the muckrights-sans-merde website was nearly abandoned before you were told it exists. muckrights has downplayed so many important stories and twisted so many facts at this point that something had to be done.
specifically, after writing this article about the latest stage in the coup against the gnu project, i had a feeling that roy was going to keep a low profile on this story altogether:
=> fraud-as-in-fraudulent---the-gnu-ass-end-ly.html fraud-as-in-fraudulent---the-gnu-ass-end-ly.html
i consider this to be linux (maybe not directly via the linux foundation, but certainly via giafam who basically control lf) declaring war on gnu. but wait, wasnt that already done this year? in a way, yes. in a very different way.
the project in question is misleading the public, and rather than warn them, muckrights wishes to keep a low profile so people can be confused about it. dont even fight this, because it will give them publicity.
the muckrights i thought i joined in 2018 didnt have this thatcher-like approach to everything. but i have two (non-competing) theories as to why roy does this. i talk about those (and the video he made about the coup) on the new website:
a fair question: why dont i just put this stuff on ewwfs?
it has a different focus than ewwfs, one that i dont want to take things over here.
this is about media reform, although its funny to say that now. its about correcting falsehoods and about addressing the fact that muckrights lies to its readers (as well as its viewers, in the videos) and its not just about them doing it to me anymore.
ewwfs was not, is not intended to be solely about muckrights. it happened to be (and is) one of the topics i have a lot to say about since ewwfs started 4 months ago, but it wasnt the only topic.
consider that ewwfs covered the latest coup before muckrights did. and the owner has said regarding the anti-stallman coup in its previous venture, oh, we dont want to say much about this, we want to let it wind down. then they go and cover it in loads more detail. but they continue to keep the public uninformed, misinformed and late to the party.
if this was just about resources and how much one person can write for the website, that wouldnt be a shortcoming worth mentioning. when its part of a pattern of pooh-poohing and then grabbing hold of topics (and then spinning them further) and this can be shown, hey-- thats a story.
muckrights-sans-merde is that story, but its also a website about creating a better tech press-- not just a better muckrights.
it just went online on the 16th (thats yesterday) and you certainly wont find a lot there yet.
however, i wouldnt be linking there if there was nothing to read.
you can (if you like) read the first "real" article there, about the video muckrights just put up where he lies to his audience once again-- about this very website, ewwfs. not for the first time.
ewwfs started in january from a similarly modest effort. of course if you expect more from msm than you get here, youll surely be disappointed.
those who would like to check out its first article can do so here:
youre more likely to find this one interesting though:
its the one that goes into detail about the video.
